Squamish is about to be aflutter with fairy wings.
On Friday, Aug. 15, Stan Clarke Park will be the site of the second annual Night Market at the Park. And some special guests are on the party list.聽
鈥淭here鈥檚 so many fairies,鈥� event co-organizer Shannon Lorenz said.聽
Having seen the magic Paintertainment creates in Whistler, Lorenz thought it was time to sprinkle a bit of fairy dust on Squamish. The company fuses body art and costuming to create masterpieces that will take your breath away.聽
鈥淲hen I was in Whistler I just saw all these beautiful fairies walking around,鈥� she said.聽
This year鈥檚 night market has grown. It will include 20 vendors exhibiting local and handmade products. Artists Brett Easton will light up his vintage lamps throughout the park and Elisa Langentstam will be hanging poems and shells in the trees.聽
Last year, the event overcame two power outages and rain. The market is a part of the municipality鈥檚 downtown summer series of events. The open-air party features local food, live music, children鈥檚 activities and facepainting.聽
The idea behind the festivities is to animate Squamish鈥檚 heart, co-organizer Rachel Boguski said.聽
鈥淲e want to bring as many people to downtown as possible,鈥� she said. 鈥淲e got a lot of activity for the kids.鈥�
The night market kicks off at 5 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m. The festivities will spill over from the park into Cleveland Avenue, which will be closed as a part of the ongoing Friday Nights events, a Downtown 撸奶社区Business Improvement Association (BIA) initiative that happens every Friday night until August 29.聽聽
The event is free and all are welcome.聽
