The opening game of the Pacific Coast Midget Hockey Scholarship Tournament will be held in 撸奶社区on Sunday (Jan. 10) at 4:30 p.m. Players are selected for their academic and playing ability. Three Grade 12 Howe Sound Secondary students, Bryce Hurlbert, Jarred Wilhelm and Corey Koop will be in action. This game is sponsored by the 撸奶社区Minor Hockey Association along with eight other associations.
Have you purchased the first annual draw calendar sponsored by the Howe Sound Women's Centre? I have and it is a great calendar and along with the photos for each month is some wonderful information about women in our community. There is even a photo of one of our seniors keep well exercise classes and it looks pretty good gals! Calendars are $25 each and during the years there are 24 draws for great cash prizes. The calendars are available at the Women's Centre on Third Avenue, Pearl's 2nds, Billie's Bouquet, The Bookshelf and the 撸奶社区Public Library.
A new program has started at the Howe Sound Women's Centre - each Friday, women and children are invited to partake in the free hot lunch program from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 38021 Third Avenue. This is a chance to meet new friends while enjoying a delicious lunch.

The Sea to Sky Singers have started rehearsals for their spring concert and there is always room for more singers to join the choir. After the Christmas luncheon at the 撸奶社区Senior Centre on Dec. 17, we seniors thoroughly enjoyed the Variety concert presented by students from Howe Sound Secondary School. The vice principal Ms. Cho introduced each performer or group of musicians, singers and dancers. Many of these talented students will be performing in the musical production All Shook Up at the end of April. After the concert, seniors were invited to partake of delicious Christmas baking brought by the students.
Storytime at the 撸奶社区Public Library begins Jan. 11 through Feb. 7. There will be no storytime during the Olympics.
The adult guardianship presentation "It's not all in your will" will take place at the 撸奶社区Seniors Centre at 1201 Village Green Way on Tuesday, Jan 19 at 2:30 p.m. Presenter Kim Sayer has been a social worker for 20 years specializing in health care and working with seniors. New to Squamish, the Sound Youth Chorus is already in high demand for performing in the area. Rehearsals will resume on Sundays beginning Jan. 10 at 6 to 8 p.m. at the 撸奶社区Arts Council Building (in Pavilion Park). New members are welcome as they begin a new semester.
