The Britannia Mine Museum is hosting Halloween festivities.

What better way to celebrate spooky season than with a trip to the bat cave?

The Britannia Mine Museum is set to host two weekends of its Fang-tastic Halloween event on Oct. 19 and 20 and Oct. 26 and 27.

As part of the all-ages festivities, the museum’s underground tunnel will morph into a bat cave where you can hop on a spooky train into the mine to learn more about the link between bats and mines.

The museum’s machine shop will also host the “Castle of Myth” vampire chamber while the “Bat out of Darkness” exhibit will offer a peek into the world of bats.

“These little misunderstood creatures have had bad reputations over the years and most are based on misconceptions and myths,” according to the museum, in a news release. “Visitors will learn about these mysterious and fascinating creatures living in the darkness of the mine and the conservation efforts to keep these habitats for bats intact.”

On Oct. 19 and 20, catch the bat ambassadors from the onsite from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. with fun bat facts.

“Halloween is always a fun time to visit the Britannia Mine Museum, especially given how spooky our mining tunnel can be,” said Derek Jang, Manager of Interpretive Delivery at the Britannia Mine Museum, in a release. “What many people may not be aware is the relationship between bats and mines, with many old mines serving as important roosting sites for bats. We thought how fun it would be to create a bat-themed Halloween while creating awareness at the same time!”

The Halloween event rate is $25 for visitors under 17 and $30 for adults 18 years and up. Children under four are free.
