Every July climbers gather in 撸奶社区to celebrate another season of sun and stone. Films by infamous, up-and-coming or legendary climbers, films about cutting edge ascents or far away adventures, informal competitions, affordable clinics and courses, and a finale send-off party are all part of the annual event.听
Packed with five days of action from July 16 to 20, there are activities for beginner to advanced climbers, said festival director Ivan Hughes.听
It covers all aspects of climbing from bouldering to trad climbing.听
Since it鈥檚 inception, Arcteryx has been the major sponsor, subsidizing clinics and workshops to keep them incredibly affordable.听
Whether it鈥檚 to fuel your motivation with dangerous levels of stoke, watch some beautiful cinematography in the climbing and environmental films, try climbing for your first time in a festival clinic, play an aggressive round or two of dodge ball, or just soak up the sweaty scene at the after party, this festival rarely disappoints.听
Every year there are more and more people coming out from the gyms and trying to get some experience on the real rock, festival director Ivan Hughes told the 撸奶社区 last year. The great thing about the festival is no matter what level you鈥檙e at there is something that will appeal to you.
Hughes has climbed for more than 26 years, first roping up overseas before moving Vancouver and visiting Squamish. What separates 撸奶社区from other climbing locations is it鈥檚 easy access to quality rock, he said. Known for its rainfall, Squamish鈥檚 granite is polished from thousands of years of the wet stuff, Hughes added.
Hughes is constantly amazed at the types of climbs people are accomplishing. 撸奶社区has produced a number of world-class one man climbers and top female athletes.听
