If you’re not the owner of this lost pile of money, police are warning you not to try and cash in.
North Vancouver RCMP are looking for the rightful owner of “a large amount” of cash that was found at Maplewood Farm in September.
The money was recently turned in to police after park employees couldn’t find the owner.
Cst. Mansoor Sahak said the key feature is that part of the sum is in foreign currency.
“The owner will need to tell us the amount of money that was lost, the denominations, the currencies, and a reasonable explanation of the date, and where precisely in the park they would have lost it,” he said in a statement.
Sahak said that police don’t consider the lost money as suspicious.
Police are asking people to refrain from calling in and making guesses in hopes of claiming the cash.
“, we received almost 50 calls with people trying to claim it was their money,” he said. “We’re going to ask that you do the right thing.”
Sahak added that making a false claim could amount to fraud.
The person who lost the money is asked to contact Cst. Nick Giornofelice at 604-985-1311 and quote file #2022-28932.
If the money isn’t claimed, Sahak said it will be turned over to the District of North Vancouver to deal with.
