Good Samaritan helps woman who was randomly stabbed in B.C.

Police in Surrey are calling the stabbing 'very concerning' and are canvassing the area for CCTV footage to identify the suspects.

Anyone with information about the Oct. 6 incident in Whalley is asked to contact Surrey RCMP.

Police are working to identify the suspects who randomly stabbed a woman in the Surrey neighbourhood of Whalley. 

Surrey RCMP was notified of an assault at 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 6 near the 10200-block of University Drive. 

Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha says police officers learned a Good Samaritan helped to transport the woman who had serious injuries.

"This is a very concerning incident in our community,” says Sangha.

Police believe the stabbing is random in nature and that there might be multiple suspects involved.

“We are asking anyone who witnessed this incident to call police immediately,” says Sangha. 

Surrey RCMP’s serious crime unit has taken over the investigation.

Police believe people were in the area when the assault occurred and urge them to come forward and speak with police. Investigators are canvassing the area and working to determine a motive.

The woman is recovering from her injuries.
