Kidnapping conspiracy, assault, robbery and firearms case to be heard in Vancouver Provincial Court.

A B.C man facing kidnapping conspiracy, robbery and weapons offences appeared in Vancouver Provincial Court Aug. 29 for a bail hearing on break-and-enter charges.

The latter charges relate to an Aug. 24 incident where it’s alleged Isaiah Castro broke into a home in East Vancouver.

Court documents said Castro, 24, and Aldo Zanatta are also charged with aggravated assault on a man in Sechelt Oct. 3, 2022. Both also face robbery with a firearms charge connected to the alleged assault.

Zanatta also faces a possession of a dangerous knife charge for that day while Castro is charged with possession of a restricted firearm without authorization, licence or registration.

In addition, Castro is charged with possession of a .22 calibre handgun and ammunition while prohibited.

A pretrial conference is set for Castro on those charges Oct. 10 at the Kelowna Law Courts.

In connection with alleged incidents between Dec. 14 and Dec. 25, 2019, Castro is charged with Paolo Silvera of conspiring with others to commit kidnapping and robbery of a woman in Vancouver.

Castro pleaded not guilty to those charges and has elected trial by provincial court judge.

Court dates on those charges extend from November into January in Vancouver.
