Surrey Board of Trade appoints Joslyn Young as CEO.

The Surrey Board of Trade is moving board member Joslyn Young into an executive slot – chief executive officer.

The SBOT has been without a full-time CEO since August 2024, following the departure of longtime CEO Anita Huberman.

In addition to serving as CEO, Young will also serve as acting executive director for the South Surrey and White Rock Chamber of Commerce, pending federal approval of a previously announced merger of the two chambers of commerce. Following the merger, she will assume the role of Surrey and White Rock Board of Trade CEO.

Young also currently serves as an advisory board member for the World Trade Centre Vancouver.

“After an extensive and thorough search, we are thrilled to welcome Joslyn Young to lead our organization,” SBOT chairman Rory Morgan said in a press release.

“Ms. Young’s deep expertise in stakeholder relations, advocacy campaigns, crisis communications, international trade, and supply chain operations makes her an outstanding choice to steer the Surrey Board of Trade, and ultimately the Surrey and White Rock Board of Trade, into an exciting new era.”

Young’s background is in government and external relations. She has served in that capacity with the Port of Vancouver; as manager of public affairs for CN Rail, B.C. region; and in a number of positions with the Union of BC Municipalities and the Lower Mainland Local Government Association.

“Serving as vice-chair for the Surrey Board of Trade and a board director for the World Trade Centre Vancouver has significantly shaped my perspective on commerce and industry at both local and global levels,” Young said.

“The health of our business ecosystem—and our ability to attract investment, talent, and opportunities—is essential not only to economic success but also to the social fabric of our communities. I’m excited to build on this foundation as CEO, ensuring businesses of all sizes receive the support and advocacy they need to thrive.”
