KANANASKIS, Alta. — Police and searchers are trying to find a man who may have been hiking earlier this week in a popular recreation area along the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains near Calgary.

RCMP say Maxwell James Mayling was last seen in Calgary on Tuesday, and is believed to have left the city to go hiking in Kananaskis Country.

Police say the 50-year-old's maroon 2009 Buick Enclave was found Saturday on Highway 40, near the gate by Highwood Junction in Kananaskis.

They say Mayling's family is concerned.

RCMP say members of their Turner Valley detachment are assisting the Calgary Police Service and the Calgary Search And Rescue Association look for Mayling.

They're asking anyone who may have information on where Mayling is, or anyone who was in this area this weekend and saw him, to contact them.
