EDMONTON — A man and two women have been charged after Alberta RCMP investigated child abuse allegations spanning almost two decades.

On March 21, Mounties laid several sex and other charges against a Fort McMurray man over allegations dating as far back as 2005 in Edson, Alta.

On Monday, a woman from Sandy Beach, Alta., was also charged in that case.

After the man’s initial arrest last month, serious crimes investigators looked into unrelated child sexual abuse allegations in Fort McMurray, Alta., between 2017 and 2023.

Police then laid additional charges against the man and another woman from Fort McMurray.

Investigators believe other complainants or people with information may come forward.

Jimmy Allen Fransen, 51, of Fort McMurray faces multiple charges including two counts of sexual assault and sexual interference with a child.

Sherina Maria Handsor, 43, of Sandy Beach faces three charges, including assault causing bodily harm.

Brenda Disher, also known as Brenda Fransen, who is 45, is charged with multiple counts, including sex assault and sexual interference involving a child.
